Overall I really loved this years course and would love to have this experience again. My favorite piece of art was the lighthouse one because I loved creating the moon and the intricate details of the grass. I solved problems by changing my course direction on doing some photography instead of acrylic work to balance out my concentration idea. During this course I thought that during the class reflection I got a lot of the same opinions and critiques and nothing that I could actually take it into my art work. I feel like people need to be more brutally honest and not so sentimental with constructive criticism. Throughout the year I wanted to improve my artwork using other people's opinions and ideas but mostly my own. I couldn't really do that due to some students being too nice about the constructive criticism. I loved the AP art course as well but felt there was a lot of work we did outside of class and not that much inside. I understand we did need to do some work outside of class but would prefer, if there was an activity in class, that it was optional.

In the past couple of months i've been mainly working on trying new types of art like embroidery. I took risks by trying new forms of art and although I didn't like the amount of time it took to actually finish the embroidery, I did enjoy it when I made a couple of things for my family for christmas. After that i worked on a couple of art pieces at home since we were always doing workshops in class. Both of these pieces have a common theme that I just reflected on, and that is it has something to do with nature.
We also did a stamping workshop in art that I kind of believe was not the best use of time and it was stamping. We had done it last year and I believe we should have had the chance to choose weather we wanted to try it again because we could have been working on quality pieces rather than the stamps. Some may use the stamped pieces as their breadth pieces, but again I believe we should've had the choice on whether to do it or not. Overall I am very stressed because I feel we didn't have any time during class to work on our pieces and yes we should have time outside of class to do so, but we should have at least some option to do a bootcamp and not being forced to do so. I only have around 5 pieces done for my breadth piece and I know for a fact I have no other pieces that I like enough to put in, so I am in distresse. In the beginning of November we were assigned a subject of a portrait and for that piece I created a canvas that has the silhouette of Greek statue painted in black and white with little black and white stripes around the person's head. Around the black and white parts I put different splotches of color to fill up the space around the stripes. I developed the skill of creating more than a background in my paintings and using more colors to represent shading in my paintings. For my next piece I worked on my own at my house and it's a silhouette of a bird and around that it is different shades of blue leaves to create the look of leaves on a tree. For this piece I communicated with my peers on what I should do next. I asked my friends how i should go about in placement of the bird and how I should shade the leaves of the tree. The next piece I did was a silhouette of a girl and inside the silhouette is a scene of a lighthouse looking over a cliff and above that in the head area, I put a sky and some clouds. This piece took me around a week to produce including the sketch.
We learned about the Guerilla Girls and the Art of Complaining and we had to post on a piece of paper, on a cork board, our complaint(s) and then we had to create an art piece using any medium to express our complaint and to respond to the Guerilla Girls’ art of complaining.
